myth #1:

fact:

There is a perfect bra

Perfection comes from a proper fitting. There is no universally perfect bra for all women. Get Fit!

myth #2:

fact:

My body is to blame for my poor fit.

A well fitted bra should support your body not vice versa. Many stores carry only the most popular sizes so it can be difficult to find the right size. At {intimacy}, we carry over 90 sizes and do free custom alterations to make sure you get exactly the right fit.

myth #3:

fact:

A loose fitting bra is the most comfortable.

A firm fitting bra is most comfortable as it does not shift on your body with wear and active lifestyles. It supports and evenly distributes the weight from your bust line and results in greater comfort. Begin by fitting firmly on the loosest hook, then move to the second and third hooks as the bra ages and stretches.

myth #4:

fact:

The back pain and shoulder stiffness is due to my shape and fullness.

Erroneously, most women rely on the shoulder straps of the bra for supporting the bust line. Only 10% of the support should come from the shoulder straps. The bra band should provide the other 90% of the support.

myth #5:

fact:

Underwires are uncomfortable.

You should not feel the underwire of a well-fitted bra. Most underwire complaints are the result of a cup too shallow or the bra band riding up the back. This forces the under wire to slide forward into the breast tissue, cause weight to impinge on the rib cage or dig into your skin.

myth #6:

fact:

A bra that shows back fat tissue is too tight.

The proper position of a bra should be level across the bodice front to back. This will minimize the appearance of soft tissue on the back. It will encase the soft side tissue to prevent show through and increase comfort.

myth #7:

fact:

Minimizers make a woman look smaller busted by compressing breast tissue.

It is unhealthy to compress breast tissue - you’ll lose firmness. Minimizers increase the surface area on your chest making you look wider. Lifting and centering the breast tissue will increase the perceived length of your torso... making you look taller and thinner instantly!

myth #8:

fact:

Sports bras are best that compress the breast tissue during rigorous exercise.

Compression based sports bras cause the bust to move as a solid block and actually damage the root tissue closest to the chest wall, resulting in irreparable harm and loss of firmness. Select a sports bra based upon the strength of the bra and the seamed support that distributes the pressure and weight of the breasts. Cup-sized sports bras are best.

myth #9:

fact:

Only padded or thick bras can eliminate nipple show through.

You can minimize show through by positioning the nipple on the seam of your bra. Plus, a properly fitted bra eliminates shifting and nipple irritation, which can help prevent the nipple from becoming erect.

myth #10:

fact:

Exercise can improve firmness in the breast tissue muscle.

Breast tissue actually loses elasticity with exercise, age and lack of proper support. Elasticity cannot be improved once the resilience is lost.
